Extra-Curricular Activities at the Prep School

Prep School Extra-Curricular

Aside from its well known successes in key sports such as rugby and hockey, 91·çÁ÷Â¥·ïPreparatory School offers immense breadth, from climbing to karate, basketball to badminton. Staff are highly trained and committed to encouraging the children to fulfil their sporting potential while keeping alive the love of physical activity. We play with passion. And, yes, we like to win. Our fixture list is extensive and impressive.

The range of activities, aside from the huge optional Saturday programme described elsewhere, is designed to challenge and delight. Academic assignments are in themselves nowhere near enough for a 91·çÁ÷Â¥·ïchild: a 91·çÁ÷Â¥·ïeducation is rounded and for life.

Saturday and Weekend Activities

If you seek a five day a week Preparatory School, 91·çÁ÷Â¥·ïcan oblige, but the optional Saturday programme is likely to dissuade a great many from taking that course. It is quite unique, giving parents and pupils more flexibility than ever before. The breadth on offer enhances the week day activity programme and defines the 91·çÁ÷Â¥·ïspirit since quality is never compromised.

In a nutshell, Saturdays offer day and boarding pupils a chance to leave academics behind and throw themselves into activities as diverse as drama, rock climbing, ceramics, the martial arts and many more. Pupils can choose to enhance physical skills, intellectual curiosity, cultural awareness and creative techniques. One can opt in to courses as one pleases, but clearly some would require sustained commitment for benefit to be gained. It is all about enrichment: about getting away from linear education and deriving all one can from the plethora of opportunities available. Horizons, when one is a 91·çÁ÷Â¥·ïPreparatory School child, should be limitless: the Saturday programme is designed to keep things that way.

On Sundays, boarders can enjoy optional trips to the local cinema, bowling alley, cultural trips to places such as Coughton Court. In the summer, there is also a special Page House Sports Day.

91·çÁ÷Â¥·ïdoes not have exeat weekends; pupils are not obliged to leave the School at any point during term time, as a result there are always good numbers of pupils in the Houses at the weekends.

Although the weekends are an opportunity for the boarders to relax after a busy week, that does not mean that there are not considerable opportunities for them to be active. All full boarders participate in the wide ranging Saturday activity programme which is open to all pupils both day and boarding, and there is a varied, non-compulsory, trips programme on Sundays.
